Coordinators

Coordinators meetings are facilitated events which combine a mix of inputs from presenters with activities for participants, as well as opportunities to share and network with colleagues.

Building the Evidence
From 12 noon on 1 May till 3.00 pm on 2 May 2007 at the Woodbrooke Centre, Birmingham

This residential event for the managers of YIACS will consider what the shifting climate to an evidence-based approach to funding and commissioning services will mean for YIACS.

As various aspects of the Youth Matters agenda begin to shape up e.g. the IAG elements and hopefully by May, further information about the proposed shape of integrated targeted support, this event will provide an opportunity for members to come together from across the country to share their experience and expertise.

The meeting will include:
· An update on the policy context and its implications for the delivery of information, advice and counselling services;
· The practical implications of an evidence-based approach to needs and outcomes and the resourcing of services

We plan to cover issues such as:
· The development of a national evidence base for YIACS, including new findings on young people’s advice needs and the relationship to mental and emotional health needs;
· Developing outcomes for funding proposals e.g. Big Lottery
· Practical tools for measuring the outcomes of advice and counselling

Access to Counselling (a2c) project seminars

As part of part of our a2c project (Access to Counselling) we held 3 free regional seminars, two in London and one in Leicester. The aim of these was to support YIACS develop a more effective relationship with CAMHS and participants gained practical ideas to help them approach CAMHS commissioners for funding for youth counselling services.

A national event bringing together YIACS and CAMHS commissioners is being planned for 2007, details to follow soon.
